Faculty Attend Interactive Opera at The Franklin Institute

Performing Arts faculty Charlie Masters and Jeremy Correnti spent Sunday afternoon at The Franklin Institute where they participated in an interactive simulcast of a Dallas Opera production of Death and the Powers, Tod Machover's new opera about the merging of machine and man in a sci-fi vision of the future.  Jointly sponsored by Drexel University's EXCITE Center (for innovation and collaboration), attendees were asked to download a proprietary App developed by engineers at MIT that allowed for the viewing of  special visual effects associated with the music.  Masters and Correnti are developing a new all school program called Music for the 21st Century that seeks to understand the production and consumption of music intermediated through digital interfaces.
